Finished Famous Socks ~

Remember this famous picture of our Jitteryknitter at our Seattle Mariners stitch and pitch? (yes, I knew you would remember...)
I love this picture and it proves to the world that she has actually knit socks, two of them...and she looks super happy about it!  This was several years ago... Last month she mentioned to me that the top cuff of one of these "famous" socks had unraveled, so I offered to fix them....after all, they are famous.......
So I did - and it was fun, as I had a finished sock in a very sort time... just ripped back an inch and started again.  The only difference from the other sock is that I did a stretchy bind off... but that won't show when the socks are on.  Now you can relax, as the famous socks can pose for pictures again!

Happy Birthday Marion!

A superstar friend and knitter, Marion's birthday is today!  If you see her, please buy her some yarn or some patterns, as one can always use more of each!!!
Thanks for being such fun and inspirational, plus so positive and encouraging about life's mysteries, like figuring out knitting charts and Elizabeth Zimmerman's techniques!! We will be celebrating your birthday soon and often!
We are so blessed to have great friends to share this journey of life! Thanks, Marion, for being so great!!

Happy 25th ~

Happy 25th Anniversary to me and my sweetie!   I was more of a crocheter back then and recall crocheting a baby blanket for a friend on our road trip to Florida after our wedding weekend.
So happy we have had 25 years together and now I am a knitter! Here's to 25 more and even more knitting!  (I need to post a picture of our wedding.....)

Here are the Runners~

Yes, the runners have appeared on our hat!  So far, after working through the chart, each runner (in blue yarn) has two legs (one with the foot on the ground, the other is up with a bent knee) and the arm that is lower (the other arm is swinging at the top, and I am not there yet).  I worked through an odd part of the chart, as it says to repeat one of the sections eight times.  I understood it to mean repeating the runner eight times, except if I would have taken the directions literally, there would have been an extra arm in each of those repeats.....the arms are not visible in this picture, as there is just the one hand that is beginning to appear...stay tuned!
I do hope I have translated the directions and chart correctly.... it has been a super fun knit so far!

Closer to Graduation ~

Making progress on these lovely socks, and Hazel Knits yarn is one of my very favorite. These are so beautiful! I believe I can finish these before graduation, June 17.
I do hope I have not jinxed this deadline!   Really, I think I will be finished, and I know she will love them!

Run to live ~

This hat is such fun to knit, once I figured out the different stitch count from the pattern directions for sock yarn...since I am knitting with sport weight yarn.  Turned out that I had to rip out my first try at the words, as I kept losing eleven stitches somewhere, which meant that there would be no "heart" and that was unacceptable!
So, try again, and now the heart is there.  Now we can see the words and heart showing, and I love it! My daughter says I had better knit faster so we can soon see the runners!

Yarn Crawl ~

This weekend was our local yarn shop crawl!  We always look forward to this weekend and have high hopes of hitting all 20 + shops.  We visited Serial Knitters Friday night, and Seattle Yarn, Bad Woman Yarn, Tea Cozy Yarns, Fiber Gallery and Acorn Street on Saturday.
Here we are in front of Bad Woman Yarn, with all the lovely knitting items behind us. Patti is taking the picture and having just as much fun as we are. Free patterns at each shop and lots of ideas to ponder.  Best part of the yarn shop crawl is spending time laughing with friends and yarn!

Mother's Day Spin ~

I did some spinning to celebrate Mother's Day, as we all need to give ourselves these gifts of spinning and knitting time!  Although I have a few fiber choices already in the midst of spinning, they are all "natural" fibers with some veg matter included...and I wanted something simple, clean and gratifying...
So I picked this lovely Lavender Sheep 50/50 merino/tencel fiber from last year's Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival. The colors are perfect for celebrating a spring day!

Mother's Day Desserts ~

Today we have been baking up a storm of desserts for tomorrow's Mother's Day dessert auction at our church.  The funds will help send our middle school and high school kids to their mission trip this summer.  The highlight of our baking day for me and my girls are these....
People Pops, and there are 73 of them, all decorated by my youngest daughter.... very fun, indeed!
P.S.  The dessert auction made over $2,000!

Happy 18th Birthday ~

Happily finished these awesome socks for my oldest daughter's 18th birthday today.  Although this yarn was a lovely gift from Jitteryknitter for socks for me, it became apparent while knitting them that my oldest daughter had designs on them....she loved the colors and loved the striping - how could anyone resist how cute these turned out!
She was so happy that I finished them, and was thrilled to get another pair of hand knit socks for her birthday....Hurrah!!!
