Unexpected cast on ~

We had a super deluxe Yarn Yoga last weekend, first we'd planned since the Sock Summit. We met in a great location that was the new home of a yarn store we'd loved in the past. We started the afternoon at the knitting shop and then took our knitting to the Commons area and set up camp to knit for the rest of the afternoon. Jitteryknitter bought some lovely bulky alpaca that matched her winter coat, and received a free pattern for a great diagonal scarf. She cast it on and knit a few pattern repeats and had a mix up. Miss M took a try at it, and also found a mix up after a few pattern repeats. Debi confirmed that math of the pattern worked, so it must have been a distraction factor of the story telling, coffee drinking, band setting up, kids laughing, phones ringing....hard to keep a pattern straight with all the fun going on....

so they handed the yarn & needles to me.... and so I cast on....double bonus, as I didn't spend a dime, and yet I have a new project to knit....

and I've not messed up yet!
