Stitch 'n Pitch ~

Love the excuse to get together with fabulous knitters!  Even when our baseball team is not doing well, it is still great to meet at a game with other knitters and super delightful friends!
Throw some crazy kids of all ages into the mix, plus a yarn bombed glove (above) by our favorite yarn bomber, and you have a great night of friends, knitting and laughing.  Plus our team won the game!  How great is that! The only part that could have been better would be like last year, where we left the game and went to the Harry Potter midnight premier!! So, tonight I was hoping for extra innings so we could keep knitting into the night!!

Holiday Heels ~

Well, one can't spend all one's time in the race up to the holiday by asking questions, can one? As Fred and George would say, "Get back to your knitting" and I did....So, here are the heels turned, and now we are on the straight-away to the cuff pattern! Hurrah!

Harry at Midnight ~

We were lucky to get tickets for the midnight showing of the last Harry Potter movie. It was fabulous and we had a blast waiting to see the movie, and seeing all the great costumes. We were wearing the scarves I knit for the last movie's midnight showing and noon showing. Tonight there was a gal dressed as Bellatrix that was almost too real!!! Scary wench! Some lovely knitted items in this movie, but I won't be a Spoiler and wreck your fun. Bittersweet that this is the last Harry Potter film, as we have loved this delightful ride into Harry's world!

Wee Harry Scarf ~

Well, I'm at a bit of a crunch time with the holidays coming faster than I can knit...Is anyone out there having this same dilemma? When I'm wrapping gifts, all I can think about is, "I wish I could knit now" and when I'm shopping, "I could be knitting now" and when I'm working...well, then I work, work, work...until we get to walk outside and then we talk about knitting.... Well, when I get home from work, and I'm too tired to knit on something "real" as I know I'll make mistakes....I have this delightful project by my rocking chair by the fireplace and the Christmas Tree.

Yes, a wee Harry Potter scarf.... I'm knitting it for one of our reindeer stocking holders that looks like she could use a scarf...cute, eh?

Harry at Noon ~

On Saturday, the full group that was supposed to see Harry Potter at midnight was able to see the movie at noon.

Of these great outfits being worn, I knit four of the scarves!!! Very wonderful, indeed!

They all loved the movie, and my kids and I loved it even better the second time!

Magic Loop Harry ~

Of course it makes sense to use the Magic Loop technique to knit anything related to Harry Potter. I'm using this for this scarf, the forth scarf I've knit for the November 19th opening of the next Harry Potter movie.

My pattern is:
First you must use the official Cascade Yarn: # 7827 and #2401. According to my kids, no other "almost" colors will do....Cast on 16 stitches each needle, using Judy's magic cast on, and knit as if the tube is a sock. Knit each stripe 10 rows, using the jogless stripe technique at each color change. After 33 stripes (or you're out of yarn), cast off using the 3 needle bind off - easy as "Accio scarf!"

Half done ~

I stayed up late on our last camping evening to see how far I could get on the Harry Potter scarf.
When we arrived home, I measured and I'm half done.... so I have to keep knitting!!!

I wasn't going to ~

For many reasons, Harry Potter is strong in our family. As I mentioned earlier this year, I knit each daughter a Harry Potter scarf to wear at the opening night of the November 2010 release of the new movie. I also knit myself a scarf. I said I was done with knitting these scarves, as I need a little more excitement in my knitting... or perhaps I should not have knit them back to back to back... perhaps if I would have taken a break, the last scarf would not have been so hard to slog through....

Well, break's over... as I've cast on one for our dear friend Anna while camping this weekend. Harry Potter is strong with her, too...

Crazy Done ~

I've cast off my daughter's crazy socks and was glad I waited for Jeny's surprisingly stretchy bind off, as it works like a charm! My daughter likes the color combination and thinks it matches perfectly with the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince book cover of purple and green.

Very color coordinated... Very lovely and fun!!!

Three is a charm ~

Finally.... I finally cast off on the third Harry Potter scarf....this one is for Emma... and it is finally done....

It looks great, like her sister's version ~ the Harry Potter scarf #2.....

Different than mine, as mine is done in alpaca... and oh so soft.... both of their scarves are in Cascade 220... We can't wait for the movie to come out!

Red Wings win ~

We don't like the "shoot out" in hockey this year, as the Red Wings have lost a few games after a long struggle and overtime... only to lose in the shoot out. But, tonight we won in overtime...

Very happy, indeed!

Against Vancouver!

True colors ~

I mentioned to you that my oldest daughter does not think "my" Harry Potter scarf is made of the correct colors. She asked that the scarf I knit for her be the "true colors" as noted by the fan website The Leaky Cauldron so her scarf would be authentic.

So I ordered this Cascade 220 in the proper colors. Shown here, as a cast on and 2 inch start, next to my "done" scarf today.....

Shown here next to my almost done scarf (last week). I think both sets of colors look terrific.....

Beautiful magic ~

After tons of focused knitting, I've finished "my" Harry Potter scarf. It is beautiful and oh-so-soft and I loved knitting with this baby alpaca chunky yarn.

I am so pleased with it! It took me only a week of knit knit knit to finish it!

Tomorrow you can help me compare the "true colors"...

Harry at Starbucks ~

While waiting for my oldest daughter, my youngest daughter and I took a relaxing trip to Starbucks.

I knit on "my" Harry Potter scarf, and she ate a double chocolate cupcake and sipped a coconut smoothie.... great way to relax together! (the pink netting is to keep the long scarf from getting tangled with both skeins of yarn!)

Hurrah for Tom Izzo's team! Hurrah for Harry Potter knitting!
