Cast Off!

Yippee!  Cast off Suzie's blanket, now to get it into the mail!  Hurrah! This yarn is lovely and this blanket is so soft! The colors are crazy as these were the only ones available at the "going out of business" sale in Michigan, yet the colors make it a truly happy blanket!

Am I Done Yet?

I think I am ready to cast off, as the new blanket is now as long as the one I crocheted in the 1970s. My youngest said that the length of the "old" blanket is perfect, so that has been our guide in length.  Can't wait to cast off this one and then cast on another one for oldest daughter's Christmas knitting!

Emma's Flock!

I love how this turned out!Daughter helped pick out the colors, as we didn't want the "snow" to be white and interfere with the sheep, so the snow stitches (or lice as the Scandinavian's call them) are pink, top of hat is lavender heather and bottom is dark purple heather.  All from my Philosopher's Wool sweater leftovers. Daughter would like one with green bottom and sky blue top....with a longer cuff to flip up......sounds like a fun combination!

First 2016 FO!

My first Finished Object of 2016!  Or, one could say my first Finnish Finished Object, as the designer of this Orbit Shawl is Finnish, Janina Kallio.  I love her designs! Happy Knitting in 2016!

Socks be done ~

Yes, serious knitting occurred at the river this weekend.  I was able to finish both pairs of Christmas socks for my kids, plus cast on another pair (more about those later).

Here are the finished ones for #1 daughter. Lovely sock yarn with merino and cashmere, oh so soft!
Here are socks for #2 daughter. Our beloved Jitterbug yarn, still one of my favorite yarns of all time! Both are lovely and soft, and great yarn for each of them. I feel great getting some Christmas knitting done!  Hurrah!!

Complete Orange ~

Done in plenty of time for that May birthday, I present to you these Orangeade socks! Hurrah! I could have used a bit more yarn, as the legs/cuffs are shorter than normal, but I knew that when I started these. They seem much shorter than the first pair I knit with this yarn.
I knit those on size 3 needles, and these with size 2, so could that be part of the reason? I ran out of yarn on the second sock's cast off, so I used a little bit from her Strawberry Lemonade (Hazel Knits) socks. Very pretty!
My birthday girl will love them, as she loves all the socks that I knit for her. She knows that is a guaranteed way of getting more knitted socks!  Now she gets to pick out some sock yarn for her next pair of socks, hurrah!!!

Bear Sweater ~

The Seattle Knitter's Guild charity project this year is Erin's Bears, so I thought I'd better cast on to see if I could figure out the easy sweater pattern for these bears. The pattern is designed by one of our very creative Guild members, and it was very easy.  Thank you Anu!
Here is my sweater, cast on and cast off in one day of knitting.  I do wish I had more of the yarn for the sleeves, but these short sleeves will be perfect for warmer weather! :)

Thumbs up ~

Lucky for me, and for my sweetie, the two thumbs turned out to be the same!  Hurrah! I added a few more rows than the pattern called for, as I wanted to be sure that her thumbs had maximum coverage, yet still had breathing space.  Moments after casting off, I presented her with the finished mitts, and she took them on a test drive immediately, as she drove us home from her driver's education class wearing her newly knitted mitts, without the ends woven in.....

After the ends were woven in, she gave the mitts another test and wore them while walking the neighbors dog, Lola. Check out that thumb! Lola thinks they are pretty cool, too!

New Year's Project ~

I had the urge to cast on a few projects on New Years' Day. Once was the Encompass Cowl for my oldest daughter, as she said she would love a few more cowls to get through the winter at college.
The second cast on was another flouncy scarf for my youngest, as I knew it would knit fast.  As it happened, I was able to cast off today as well since I was able to have a lot of knitting time today, after getting all my energy going with boot camp!
