Party Angel ~

How can one pass up yarn called Party Angel?  Obviously, not me...... With some help from Jitteryknitter, I cast on for a lovely shawl that will be another Christmas gift....
So far, it looks lovely - lightweight and a bit of twinkle as it catches the light. Christmas knitting in July is a good idea!

Vacation Heels ~

Very excited to get to the heel turns for these socks!  These are destined for a Christmas gift, so I feel like I am getting ahead of the holiday list, even if just a little bit!
Loving the Jitterbug yarn and the wild colors and tight twist, such happy yarn and happy knitting for vacation!

Two guesses ~

Finally, all the pieces are in place.  I have the pattern(s) and I have a baby-mac coming in May, and some of the yarn appeared at our Fiber Frenzy.  The rest of the yarn was purchased at the Webs sale.  I could cast on soon, except I could not finish it until I know the real name of baby-mac...but I do have a few months before it needs to be finished.
Can you guess what this project will be? (I do not think you will need two guesses)

Yarn of my dreams ~

I first heard about Elsa Wool in the Stash and Burn podcast a few years ago. The way it was described, soft, sturdy, home grown on the sweetest sheep and spun in America invoked a dreamy view of yarn perfection. I wondered if I would ever be able to decide which type to order on-line, as there were too many choices and all sounded lovely.
Tolt Yarn and Wool answered my dreams, again. There was a table full of Elsa Wool, so I could touch and squish and ponder until I could make a clear choice. I spent my Christmas gift certificate from my sweetie on a sweaters worth of this lovely yarn...looking forward to swatching soon!

Christmas Blessings ~

Christmas blessings to you, from all of us.  I hope Santa is going to bring all of us More Yarn (please) and More Fiber, and More Patterns...and lots of time to knit with our friends and family....

I wish a super new year for all, and that our loved ones stay healthy and cozy, and enjoying all their knitted goodies! Here are some special scenes from our 1968 Christmas....classic, eh?

Here (below) are special scenes from our 1969 Christmas.....still classic, still wonderful, still great family memories! Our Christmas stockings were knit by Grandma Agnes, and mine is hanging above our fireplace right now - Grandma Agnes would be very proud of my knitting...I think of her so often when I knit!

Special love and hugs to my family, and thankfulness to all the holiday traditions we shared while growing up....I am so blessed by my family!

Wishing you all the best of holidays!  I hope Santa is at your home soon! (He is in our neighborhood now, and we will send him on his way soon!)
Happy Holiday Knitting and Fiber Fun, and much blessings for good health, close family and friends, and prosperity for the new year! (Plus lots of great knitting and fiber Karma!)

Gingerbread Fun ~

The beginning of a neighborhood tradition, I hope, as we all gathered at our newest neighbor's home to create many amazing gingerbread houses.  I was not prepared for how great this event would be.  When we arrived there were already several families there, and homes were being built. There were ready-made "kits" of walls, and roofs for over 20 guests, and at least four different styles of homes.
How amazing is this?  This is the kids' table, and they were creative and crazy, with only a few roof cave in events...perhaps overloading with candy?
There was also an adult table where a few of us made homes with the help of some wise contractors and architects. Here is the final village of gingerbread...we can say that it takes a neighborhood to make a village...right?

Pot o' Gold Gussets ~

I am making good progress on these bright and cheery socks for youngest daughter. Already on the gusset, and just cast on over Christmas vacation. This is the yarn that she gave me for Christmas, and how lucky she is to know that I will knit her socks with "my" gift. She is double lucky, as she already had a pair of socks going on my needles, in my beloved Jitterbug. My "deal" with my two daughters is that I always have a pair of socks for each of them on my needles. Such a deal, you say??!! I love this deal, as I know they love my hand knit socks and that gives me a lot of pleasure to knit for them. Oddly, my oldest daughter has not chosen yarn for her next pair, so we will do that soon....

Knitting buddies ~

There are others in our household that needed a few more days to finish Christmas gifts. Last night, I was presented with a hand made "knitting buddy" from my very talented sweetie. He made it out of maple, and it twirls on a roller blade wheel from his old pair that had been living in the attic. Very clever construction, and they sell for $40 in our local yarn shop. Lucky me to get a hand made one, and the promise of more to come! I thought it was a perfect reason to cast on another lovely knitting gift, Shibui sock yarn in the Zinnia colorway.
I cast on for the Trillian shawl, as it is written directions - not a chart as the original shawl I wanted to cast on... so someday I need to be more comfortable with charts... someday is not today...So far, this shawl looks lovely, and I have to remember to, "save 7% of the yarn" for the edging since I only have 400 yards, and not the 580 yards called for in the full shawl pattern. I think the zinnia yarn and the maple knitting buddy look like they are enjoying themselves!
