Border Section!

Yes! I am knitting the last few rows of the border section!  I made this much larger than pattern called for since I had 300 + yards of Jitterbug sock yarn and the pattern calls for 200 yards of DK weight yarn.  I will use up as much of the yarn as possible!  Happy New Year!

Finally Knitting Today!

Almost time for bed, and I am finally getting time on my day off for some knitting. Where does the time go???  Pulled out this lovely Jitterbug yarn and "Orbit" shawl by Janina Kallio, as I cast on for my birthday and have not knit on it since then - abandoned for holiday knitting!  So, today I chose this for my fifteen minutes of knitting.  Love this yarn, love the pattern and love the pattern designer!

Birthday Cast On ~

Of course we have to have our traditional Birthday Cast On today so we can think about the joys of birthday events each time we are able to knit on the Birthday Cast On project.  This year's winner goes to a Janina Kallio design, the Orbit shawl, using some lovely Jitterbug with my Signature Needles.  All good knitterly blessings for a project!!!

My Hero ~

You are not going to believe this....of all the messages I sent on Ravelry desperately seeking Magenta Jitterbug to finish my Little Colonnade, I had just one response.  MY HERO!!!!  She wrote back and said she would find it in her stash, and just charge me for shipping.... MY HERO!!!!!   That afternoon she sent me another message to say the package only took two stamps, so she was considering it as a gift.... MY HERO!!!!!
May she have Great Knitting Karma and Fabulous Karma of All Other Types for all her many many many many healthy and happy years.... Bless you!!!!!!  (P.S.  The label on her yarn was dated 2008!!)

Trouble here ~

I have trouble here, right here in River City....(that is a nod to my Dad, who always sang this song from The Music Man while we were growing up.....) as I have been knitting away in a Jitterbug Frenzy with the magenta colored perfect yarn and amazing Signature needles and.......oh dear.......
I have five rows left, and there is not enough yarn.....oh dear.....So I have searched on Ravelry, and there is one skein of Magenta Jitterbug for sale, and four knitters have posted that they have "leftovers" of Magenta Jitterbug in their stash... I have messaged all of them....My yarn is from 2009... what are the chances that I will find more??????

Koigu moment ~

News flash I have to share with you ~ I had to stop my plying and take a picture, as there it was...right there going on to my famous zebra bobbin....a 2-ply that looks just like Koigu. Can you see the likeness there?

Yes, on the famous zebra bobbin that often has tension issues, there is 2-ply of my spinning that looks a lot like Koigu to me..... I love the tight twist of Koigu and my beloved Jitterbug...but, of course this cannot be beloved Jitterbug, as I would never get a skein of Jitterbug in one color....what would be the point of that when Jitterbug comes in AMAZING colors!!??!!  So, this looks like Koigu to me.....

Beloved Jitterbug ~

With all this talk about the twist on my beloved Jitterbug yarn, I thought I should be knitting more with this lovely yarn, since I have a pair of socks in the works. Yes, it is lovely, and the twist is the best - ever, and this yarn has such energy and bounce. I love love love Jitterbug yarn, especially the "old" colors that are so bright and cheery. Thankfully my youngest daughter loves the wild colors as well, so these Jitterbug socks are for her. I'm not very far in the knitting, but I will enjoy all of it. Ahhhh, knitting with my beloved Jitterbug....very good, indeed!

Trillian Progress ~

The Trillian shawl is looking good. The yarn has a lovely twist, almost like my beloved Jitterbug, and that twist makes this Shibui a delight to knit with. The colors...ahhhh, the colors are so vibrant and warm.... When my daughter asked me to drive her to practice on this pouring rain evening, I thought I would take this sunshine "zinnia" brightness to the coffee shop and brighten up my raining evening. It worked. Although the rain kept pouring down and the wind kept blowing, my zinnia garden kept growing more lovely each row!

Bitten again by Jitterbug ~

Do you have a certain yarn that you can't resist? (silly question, eh?!!) No matter where to see it, you have an almost visceral need to have it in your stash. Most of the time, there is some of that yarn on your needles, in a wonderful project that gives you such joy.... plus you have several finished objects in that yarn, yet you never tire of knitting with it.Jitterbug is that yarn for me....but not the "new" colors that are tonal and muted...oh, no...too tame... it is the older, vintage colorways that I love (Jitteryknitter is now shaking her head and saying, "no, no no!"). The colors just sing with happy sunshine, and the twist is the most excellent I've ever knit with - tight and even....oh, I do love this yarn!!Lucky for me, I found another skein of that vintage Jitterbug...just when #2 daughter had asked me to cast on my last of this Popsicle colorway....Isn't it so lovely?
