Sisters fun ~

Yes, we are having a blast in Sisters Oregon at the Outdoor Quilt Show weekend. My sister and I are trying to figure out how many years we have been making the trip to Sisters in July, as we know we missed a few years when my kids were wee ones... but not too many years.... In the last 5 years we've been taking a sewing class the Friday before the Outdoor Quilt Show, and that has been a good additional tradition for us.

Here we are during another great sister's tradition ~ an island vacation for relaxing, knitting, sewing, beading and great friends!!!

Do you recognize these hats, from one of my favorite knitting books, Hats On? These were such fun to knit!

Sisters Quilt Show ~

As you read this, I am enjoying the Sisters Oregon Outdoor Quilt Show. It is always the second Saturday in July, and always an amazing display of creativity, inspiration and talent. There are hundreds and hundreds of quilts on display, including every color combination, style, tradition and age. Each year I go with my sister, and we have an amazing time! Here we are, outside the Stitchin' Post, owner Jean Wells, that started the Outdoor Quilt Show 34 years ago with her own quilts. She started an incredible tradition. Check out their website to see pictures of all the quilts displayed along the main street and side streets of Sisters!
P.S. In the last several years, Jean now sells wonderful yarn at the Stitchin' Post! That's where I bought my first Jitterbug yarn!

Curtains ~ part 2 ~

Here is the second set of curtains I sewed on New Year's Day, now showing in our laundry room! Not sure if you can tell they are pink, orange and yellow hibiscus flowers in a riot of color ~ matching perfectly with the yellow walls and yellow counter top in the laundry room. When we moved into this house, I wanted the laundry room to be bright and happy......

and it is!

Sew What? Curtains!

I did a bit of knitting on the Jitterbug socks today, but my main creativity was sewing two sets of curtains! It feels good to have accomplishments so early in the new year! Pictured here are the curtains in the bathroom ~ the laundry room curtains need a curtain rod before I can take a picture!

Don't tell Mom

Shhhhhhh, Mom's Christmas gift is done ~ I finished sewing the binding on #8 today! Very excited to have another Christmas gift complete ~ even if the gift is not knitted. Rockin#13 picked out the fabric & metallic trim ~ the greens match Mom's dining room area. I think she will like them a lot for the spring!

Chicken & Ribs

Late work night means no knitting ~ so I will share a fun picture taken last night during the "too tight" episode. Since rockin'10 was wearing her chicken jammies while modeling the monkey socks with two inches of ribbing, I thought this picture should be called Chicken & Ribs, or Chicken Legs and Monkey Socks or something similar ~ gotta love those chickens!

Halloween Deadline

(get it? dead line ~ get it ~ Halloween ~ spooky...dead....get it?) Remember when I was sewing a Halloween costume the night before Halloween (instead of knitting)? Without the correct pattern and without much time to figure out how to "wing it" as the dead-line loomed? Well, here is rockin'13 daughter in her elf costume ~ not Nordstrom's, but the greatest red flannel elf costume around! Pretty cute, eh? Wait until next year!!!
